Vauxhall is in the race and set to take the British marque into a fierce battle with premium brands such as Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. The new Vauxhall Insignia is a new fighter to stand in front of the entire premium cars line up, not only in engine specs but is also price competitive.
The much awaited Insignia is supposed to be larger, lighter and more efficient than the current one. In the European market, the Insignia engine is expected to be the new 1.6-litre CDTi diesel engine which will replace 2.0-litre CDTi unit.
The assumptions will be starting something near 136bhp and rising to around 170bhp. The new Insignia is being engineered and reworked in Europe, but also set up to sit on all-new global platforms.
To make Vauxhall Insignia smarter and fuel efficient, it is offered with the six-speed automatic gearbox. The automatic gearbox is expected to improve the fuel efficiency up to 3% when we compare it with the existing six-speed manual versions. There will also be a VXR version with VX-line sporty trim levels which will stand new Insignia in the battle against Audi’s S line and BMW’s M Sport models.
Starting from the front nose of the Insignia, it features thin, wide, flat-fronted wings across the top of the grille. The air vents are like Monza-style from each side and the headlights are smartly slim.
The very latest Matrix-beam OLED technology is also there to increase the light and is also the reason of less energy consumption. If we compare the coming Insignia with rivals like VW Passat and Skoda Superb, the extra length and stretched wheelbase will give the Insignia interior more space. In spite of the size increase, the smart manufacturing enables the new Insignia to a weight loss of up to 200kgs over the current car.
