Audi’s motives to pay attention to every single feasible area and progressively improve it is clearly evident with the launch of all-new Audi A4. It has everything one could ever dream of, it’s more aerodynamic, sharper, thriftier, lighter and faster than ever before. With a new range of four diesel engines and three petrol engines, you don’t need to worry about anything, anymore.
Although this new vehicle is, what could be referred to, technologically more advanced Audi ever, but this new lineup of Audi A4 engines is economical, advanced and designed for high performance.
The power has been increased by 25 percent and the fuel consumption has been reduced by almost 25 percent. The diesel units now have tanks for AdBlue additive and all the engines are Euro 6 emission compliant.
The range starts with a 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine which delivers 148bhp and 184lb ft. of torque. When mated with a seven-speed S Tronic gearbox, it takes only 8.9 seconds to hit 62mph. The claimed consumption is 57.6mph.
2.0-litre TFSI is the next one which comes with two power outputs, one that produces 188bhp and the other 248bhp. The first one is more eco-friendly as it emits 109g/km of CO2 and the economy is 58.9mph, while the latter one is beastie, taking 5.8sec for 0-62mph sprint.
Audi’s hallmark is its diesel engines and the latest engines are, as Audi call it, “most efficient” yet. The low-powered 2.0-litre TDI unit produces 148bhp and takes 8.7sec for a 62mph sprint. When it is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox, it returns 74.3mpg with CO2 emissions of 99g/km.
The revised version of the 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine is the range topper, it produces either 215bhp or 268bhp depending on which version you choose. The most economical is used in the front-wheel-drive saloon, it returns the economy of 67.3mpg while emitting 110g/km of CO2. There are three options available in the gearboxes – a six-speed manual, seven-speed S Tronic and an eight-speed S Tronic. The last one is only available with 3.0 TDI.
