The top of the range is Nissan Pulsar Tekna which starts at £20,435. Nissan has thrown everything into this spec by adding safety features such as moving object detection, lane departure and blind spot warning aids, under the ‘Nissan Safety Shield’ umbrella. Heated leather seats are also added to adorn the range topper Tekna.

Under the hood, it will give a choice of Nissan Engines either the 113bhp 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine or the 1.5 litre turbo diesel delivering 109bhp. There is a choice of six-speed manual or ‘Xtronic’ CVT automatic transmission.

Nissan has also confirmed there’ll be a faster 189bhp, 240Nm 1.6-litre petrol Pulsar available from early 2015. Sources suggest that the 215bhp engine from the Juke Nismo RS will make it into the car in due time as a Pulsar Nismo hot hatch flagship, aimed at the Ford Focus ST and VW GTI.
