Everybody wants adventurous life, and for adventures, one must travel and visit different wonders of the nature hidden in this world. For this purpose, you need a reliable vehicle which can takes you on your desired places comfortably. And if you will ask me which vehicle would be the best for this adventure, I would love to say BMW and always stick to this answer.
BMW is a popular German luxurious vehicles manufacturing company, serving its buyers in every city and country of the world with devotion. All the models included in each series are stunning and flawless not only in terms of style but also in technology. In the same way, 2 series from BMW’s side is impressive in every aspect. And one of the most admiring vehicles of BMW is the 218i Active Tourer.
The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is a compact MPV manufactured by BMW since 2014. It is the first ever front-engine, front-wheel-drive style vehicle sold under the tag of BMW vehicle brand. If we talk about BMW 218i Active Tourer Engine particularly, we learn that 218i is powered by an active 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine coupled to a six-speed automatic (non-manual) transmission.
This very same engine will soon make its way into the 118i (substituting the 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo). Along with 100kW of power and 220Nm of torque, it proceeds its 1360kg kerb weight with enough exuberance to not feel sluggish (0-100km/h in probably 9.2 seconds), but its optimum power delivery is fairly high up on the rev range (4500-6000rpm) so few times you observe like you are waiting for the revs to increase (and the turbo to correctly kick in) before things get actually moving.
The gearbox is quite smooth once you get moving though it is found on the odd occasion it does twitch a tad at slow speeds. Behind the wheel the smart 218i Active Tourer is not completely what we would call a dynamically interesting car. It is actually a minivan, after all. Nevertheless, it feels very proficient and not lacking as compared to the B200.
The suspension system is a little on the firm side, but for a regular city driving on pretty decent roads you will rarely notice it. The steering can feel little bit heavy too, which is really nice if it was a sportier car, but it is not confirmed it’s well placed in the MPV. With respect to safety, the base model 218i includes all the regular efficient and safety features, such as traction and strong stability control along with six airbags, but also adds pedestrian warning, lane departure warning and approach control warning. One more thing is it can also park itself, which is convenient.
To sum up it can be considered that BMW 218i Active Tourer is spacious, well finished with cost-efficient diesels and high perceived quality.
Its engine is efficient which is capable of covering long distances with great ease. So, pick this vehicle and go out for an adventure.
